Dear Friend,
To kick-off this update, we wanted to first thank all of our community members and friends for booking your seats at our Passover Seder. We look forward to seeing all of you at the JCC tomorrow, Friday, April 15, at 6:30 pm! This will be a particularly meaningful and momentous event in the history of our community.
We were delighted to welcome Mayor of Taipei Ko Wen-je and a group of eminent government officials, professors, and entrepreneurs to dinner at the Kosher Culinary Lab this week. We enjoyed a specially prepared Kosher for Passover menu, had a few laughs, and took a tour of the museum and the synagogue.
Mayor Ko played an instrumental role in helping us secure this beautiful parcel of land in the heart of Taipei. He also helped us obtain the essential permits that allowed us to fulfill our mission of building Taiwan’s first permanent home for the Jewish community.
As some of you may recall, Mayor Ko spoke at our opening ceremony back in late December.
For his unwavering support, we wish to extend our sincerest thanks on behalf of the entire Jewish community of Taiwan.

Learning to make (and bake) matzah!
Our kindergarten was brimming with the sounds of children last Sunday as they learned to mix flour and water, and then knead and flatten the dough into their own homemade matzahs.
Unlike our ancestors back in Egypt a couple thousands years ago, our children weren’t in the same kind of hurry to get out of there, so they took their time and enjoyed their matzah at their very own Seder table, where they learned the songs and prayers of Passover.
Thanks to the Margulis, Ickowitz, Gogol, Sattler, Bannett, and Goldschmidt families, and everyone who participated in this fun event!
Kosher for Passover menu at the Lab
In observance of Passover, which begins April 15 for the following 8 days, our Kosher Culinary Lab team has designed a special Kosher for Passover set menu for lunch and dinner that we know you’ll enjoy.
If you’re a meat-eater, enjoy a seared kosher ribeye. If fish is your thing, we’ve got a delicious grouper filet. And of course, there’s a vegetarian option as well.
View our set menu and find out more about the Kosher Culinary Lab by clicking here.
This menu will be available through to Thursday, April 21st, after which we will bring back our original menu.
Just call 02-2700-0366 or email reservations@jtca.org.tw to book your table.
