Shana tova!

By 25 9 月, 20224 12 月, 2022No Comments

Dear Friend,

We are very excited to welcome nearly 200 friends and family from the community to our Rosh Hashanah banquet this evening, Sunday September 25th.

Please arrive by 5:00 pm so we can begin the candle lighting and services at the synagogue on time, before enjoying dinner in the ballroom together.

From all of us at the JTCA, we would like to thank you for your support over the past 9 months since we opened the JCC. We’ve gone from strength to strength, providing unique religious, educational, and cultural services, hundreds of delicious kosher meals, and all in a beautiful building that we can finally call our own.

We couldn’t have done it without your love and support, so thank you!

We would like to wish you a Shanah Tovah: may you be inscribed and sealed in the Book of Life for a good and sweet new year.

Alef, bet, gimmel: Survival Hebrew begins!

Mazeltov–congratulations–to the students who joined the first lesson of Survival Hebrew!

Starting with a thorough grounding in the alef-bet, our teacher Nirit taught us how to introduce ourselves and others, and introduced numerous new vocabulary words.

The class is off to a fun and productive start!

Welcome Stephanie, our volunteer from Austrian Service Abroad

We’re delighted to welcome Stephanie Langer as one of our two new volunteers from Austrian Service Abroad (last week we introduced Miriam Vanek)!

Stephanie is currently studying Sinology at the University of Vienna. Stephanie is very interested in filmmaking, producing, and acting. Having been to Taiwan in 2017, she has wanted to return ever since.

Last semester she took a course on fighting antisemitism, and feels a big responsibility as an Austrian citizen to support Jewish life and culture.

“Coming to the Jeffrey D. Schwartz Jewish Community Center as a part of Austrian Service Abroad is the perfect opportunity for me to combine my interests in Taiwanese culture, history, and language with my interests in Jewish culture.”

New from the Kosher Culinary Lab: Lunch delivery

We were delighted to serve 85 delicious custom-designed and individually-packaged lunches to a multinational consulting firm located in Taipei 101 recently.

We provided a choice of hearty Israeli grilled chicken, savory Kosher pastrami, fresh Moroccan fish with harissa sauce, and a delicious vegetarian option.

Each meal was served with our signature spinach-stuffed falafel, and each came with a delectable Swiss roll cake with scrumptious raspberry filling.

All meals were prepared on site from scratch with love by the Kosher Culinary Lab at the Jewish Community Center under strict kosher supervision.
