Dear Friend,
We were thrilled to welcome the community to our Purim in the Palace party last Thursday evening. This was the first holiday event we held in the ballroom of our new center, and it was a smashing success thanks to the support of all who joined us for the fun.
We fulfilled the four central mitzvot of Purim: 1) Listening to the reading of the Megillah—the Scroll of Esther; 2) Mishloach manot: Exchanging gifts of food with friends; 3) Tzedekah (charity): Giving to needy families in Israel; and 4) Seudah: Enjoying a festive meal.
A sketch artist drew customized portraits, and we held a raffle with lots of fun prizes.
The laughter and smiles on everyone’s faces said it all. You can view a slideshow of photos on our website here.

International Holocaust Remembrance Day 2022
Last week, we joined a special gathering of government leaders at the International Holocaust Remembrance Ceremony, hosted by the Israeli Economic & Cultural Office in Taipei, the German Institute in Taipei, and the Taiwan Foundation for Democracy.
President Tsai Ying-wen shared remarks which you can watch here. Representative Omer Caspi of the Israel Economic & Cultural Office in Taipei related the remarkable story of survival during the Holocaust of his wife Galit’s grandmother. In a pre-recorded video message, Dani Dayan, Chairman of Yad Vashem World Holocaust Remembrance Center, discussed the need to immediately confront antisemitism, racism, and xenophobia.
Rena Quint, a 91-year old Holocaust survivor, shared via live videoconference link the inspiring story of how as a girl she survived the terrors of the Holocaust while her family was tragically murdered by the Nazis. She was eventually adopted by an American family and was raised by them before moving to Israel with her husband in the early 1980s. Today, she has more than 20 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.#
