Dear Members and friends of the Jeffrey D. Schwartz Jewish Community Center

I hope this newsletter finds you in good health and high spirits. As we all know, Passover is one of the most important holidays in the Jewish calendar. It is a time for reflection, gratitude, and celebration. This year the members of the Jewish Community Center came together to celebrate Passover in a meaningful and delightful way.

The Passover Seder was held at the iF design award winning Jewish Community  Center and was attended by members of the community, as well as guests from around the world. The Seder was led by Rabbi Shlomi, who did an excellent job of guiding us through the rituals and explaining the significance of each one.

The Seder was a true celebration of Jewish culture and tradition. The food was delicious, and the mood festive. We sang songs, shared stories, and enjoyed each other’s company. It was a truly special evening that touched the guests and soul of all that attended.

As the 8 days of Passover has come to an end we reflect on the lessons we have learned during this time.We are reminded of the importance of family, community, and faith. We are grateful for the blessings in our lives and look forward to a future filled with hope and prosperity.

On behalf of the entire JTCA and the JCC, I would like to wish you all a happy and healthy post-Passover season. May the lessons of Passover guide us through the coming year and may we continue to celebrate our traditions and culture with joy and enthusiasm.

Big congrats that our beautiful center has won the 2023 iF Design Award!!

Dear Friends,

It is my pleasure to announce that the Jeffry D. Schwartz Jewish Community Center building has won the coveted iF Design Award for 2023. This prestigious award recognizes excellence in design and innovation across multiple disciplines, and we are thrilled that our community center has been recognized with this honor.

Designed by Jeffrey Schwartz and Na Tang along with the excellent Design team of Long Tsai Corporation. The Jeffrey D. Schwartz Jewish Community Center building is a truly unique and inspiring space. It’s striking design incorporates elements of Jewish tradition and symbolism, while also integrating modern technologies and sustainable materials.

This award is a testament not only to the outstanding quality of the building’s design, but also to the vision and dedication of our community. We are grateful to all those who have contributed to the creation of this remarkable space, and we look forward to continuing to serve the needs of our community for generations to come.

Thank you to the iF Design Awards for this incredible recognition, and congratulations to all those involved in the creation of this truly exceptional building.

Welcome to our good friend the Honorable Mitchell Silk, the Former Assistant Secretary for International Markets US Dept of the Treasury.

Mr. Silk is a traditional Hasidic Jew and is the highest ranking Hasidic Jew in the USA  government.  This is quite an honor as well as a testament to his ability to maintain Jewish law, spiritually and customs while also do great things for the American secular society and the Country.

Mr. Silk has agreed to give a talk at the JCC on May 3 explaining his unique relationship with Jewish spiritually and operating a secular government. Please see the brochures below and be sure to sign up.

Mr. Silk was invited by the Bank of Taiwan to give a EMBA course at National Cheng Chi University and help upgrade the knowledge and experience of Government Bank Executives in Taiwan.

Meanwhile Mr. Silk has agreed to give a talk at the JCC covering a very interesting topic of “How to infuse the world with spirituality from our homes all the way to the White House”.

Young Presidents Organization (YPO) held a gala event at the JCC on April 20 introducing two new members that have gone through the rigorous process of becoming a new member. This event was attended by many of Taiwan’s top company’s executives. The YPO rented the entire JCC building to have use of all the unique space that we have to offer. Especially interesting was when they set up tents on the Roof topTemple Plaza for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. The dined on traditional gourmet Kosher cuisines from our Kosher Culinary lab.

Everyone had a great time, with great food and drinks as well as receiving an introduction into Jewish Culture and Heritage. We welcome the YPO back in the future for other events.

In conclusion here is a little poem we wrote about our Jewish life at the JCC in Taipei.

In the bustling streets of Taipei,
A Jewish community thrives,
A culture once foreign and far away,
Now a part of Taiwan’s vibrant lives.

Their synagogues filled with prayer,
Their tables laid with kosher fare,
Their traditions a testament to their faith,
In a land where they have found a place.

The Jewish community in Taiwan,
A testament to acceptance and love,
A beacon of hope in a world of division,
An example of how unity can rise above.

Amidst the temples and bustling night markets,
The Jews of Taiwan stand tall,
A reminder that no matter where we come from,
We all have a place in this world after all.

Warm Regards,

Jeffrey D. Schwartz & NaTang
